Artist's Comments

Sparda w/ Rebellion, Devil May Cry (Games). In a dark uniform.

I know how the angel fell [just kneel]
I know the tale and I know it too well [just bow]
I'll make you wish you had a soul to sell
When I strike you down and send you straight to hell

(Shall Never Surrender)

Oh boy this took longer than expected but has been a rewarding exercise. All in all this went from a loose idea aimed only at drawing something for myself (a devil in a bitchin' uniform) to something whole lot bigger. For now, nick-named Project: Secret mission/S-Rank because it sure as hell will be a s-ranked mission haha!

For once, a B/W with stark black and no screen tones; two layers of grey. Blood splatter texture help from cgtextures.com, and own-made Photoshop brushes for the details on the documents.

I'm not familiar with the character, but that means I'm judging this pretty much for its aesthetic value as I see it *laughing*
It's a very, very clean, beautifully-executed piece of manga-style art, and better, in my opinion, than a whole lot of manga. The figure is maybe a little elongated as far as the torso goes, but that's not uncommon in manga illustration, and doesn't really detract. As it is, he projects menace and twisted authority; the lowered head, the huge weapon held easily behind him, the Nazi-style uniform and monocle all resonate evil power - the combination of modern (uniform) and ancient (weapon) suggest that his evil is almost archetypal in nature, and that is VERY COOL. I like the way he's striding out towards the viewer; it adds to the threat, especially when you see the blood-spatters he's left behind, and the tattered, stained maps and plans that suggest worlds destroyed. Makes you want to get out of his way...fast.

Oooo...I love it. The hoodie, bloodied sword, bloody random papers fluttering past in the breeze, gives out a creepy 'grim reaper' (walking through a dark dark alley) effect.....like he's coming after me next...............NOOOOoooooOOOooo!!!!!!! *crashes through wall*

*ahem* I mean, kudos! :iconbravoplz:
