Sketchavember 2012 #11: Stand vigil by croaky Sketchavember 2012 #11: Stand vigil by croaky
Rough sketch of The Warden, Laran Cousland (Dragon Age: Origins/Awakening). Pencils, edits in Photoshop. Guy's looking a bit thin there.

A clean/uncoloured version can be found at the blog, here.

Even as just a rough sketch, this is beautiful I really love the twilight colors in the background and the cloak whipping out across the page. Leaving the figure in grayscale works nicely- it feels cold and alone. Which I'm sure being on guard on a chilly Fereldan night would be.

The movement in this is really nice, and the minimal colour.

Very cool. Love the roughness of it, the simple background. The blue is a nice touch, gives it a cold, isolated, strong feeling.

Guy's looking a bit thin? He DID do a hell of a lot of walking ALL over Fereldan.

Love the pose and the sense of authority you get from looking at the piece. The sketchy lines help add to the character in my opinion and it works pretty well overall. His cape is also awesome, but the pose of the legs looks a little wonky compared to the body.
